Haymows were made for long, chilly evenings!

The damp wind is whipping outside the old wooden beams.
Inside the haymow the kids are hopping, bustling, climbing, balancing, and swinging!

The soft, golden straw adds a bit of padding for inevitable tumbles.
The lone light bulb illuminates the home of summer's long-gone residents.
We peek through the hole down to the lower level and see the cows munching and the chickens roosting. We hear Daddy rhythmically squirting warm milk into the pail.

On this Thanksgiving I'm reminded of life's simple pleasures. I am very thankful for our cozy homesteading lifestyle where the kids can run free, explore, dabble with chores, see where our food comes from, and witness the circle of life. Chores may tie us down but they unite our little family.
Happy Thanksgiving!
