Which way?

This video is a bit long but it shows Rhya's new-found 'hanging' skill along with her indecisiveness!

Keeping busy with...

Picnics- Heidi came with us on Friday! We ate Shepard's Pie at Freedom Park:
Grooming Sakari! We purchased a HIGH velocity dog dryer. The point is to de-shed. This over due pregnant mama couldn't WAIT to check it out. I had it on half the potential power to start with and the hair flew like crazy. I'm hoping to drum up some business with it this summer.
Kombucha Tea- I knew nothing about the stuff a month ago, but I was having digestive issues and Diane suggested that I try it. My trusty husband performed the experiment. The process looks disgusting (seriously- a mushroom??), but I actually really like the stuff!
Rhya's new toy! Auntie Jen sent her birthday present early so we let her open it. We told Rhya that it was her VERY OWN computer, so she likes to say 'own pUter!' My plan is to ban it to the car in hopes that she will tolerate her carseat better. :-)

Still waiting...41 weeks along. I didn't really let myself think that I would go a week over but such is life! Mom spent LOTS of time massaging labor trigger points yesterday. I'm still waiting for the effects. At least it felt good!
Rhya and I went to Hudson today. I bought four post pregnancy shirts at Goodwill in hopes that my body agrees with the decision to resort back to normal size. :-) I also bought a quesadilla maker at Aldis (hopefully it's as cool as it sounds) which spurred on my craving for lunch at Chipotle. Rhya helped me eat the delicious chicken burrito while belting out 'Gently The Holy Spirit' while making funny faces at the cooks. Gracious. Gotta get creative when every day is a waiting..waiting..waiting...game.

Tweedly Dee

Patience..patience.....she's only four days overdue. It could be a while!!

In the meantime...
- play with Rhya
- walk.walk.walk.picnics.picnics.picnics (yaay for nice weather!!!)
- sleep in until 7:30 or 8 (thanks Rhya!! she's been on a late wake kick ever since DST started)
- cook and bake (and try to wash dishes with a bowling ball of a stomach...back pain!). The freezer is stocked
- clean (I keep getting nervous when the house gets beyond a 'minor' upheaval because I don't want it to be a sty when the baby comes)

Reminder

Memo:  To Parents, From Child

Don’t spoil me.  I know quite well that I ought not to have all I ask for – I’m only testing you.

Don’t be afraid to be firm with me.  I prefer it, it makes me feel secure.

Don’t let me form bad habits.  I have to rely on you to detect them in the early stages.

Don’t make me feel smaller than I am.  It only makes me behave stupidly “big.”

Don’t correct me in front of people if you can help it.  I’ll take much more notice if you talk quietly with me in private.

Don’t make me feel that my mistakes are sins.  It upsets my sense of values.

Don’t protect me from consequences.  I need to learn the painful way sometimes.

Don’t be too upset if I say “I hate you.”  Sometimes it isn’t you I hate but your power to thwart me.

Don’t take too much notice of my small ailments.  Sometimes they get me the attention I need.

Don’t nag.  If you do, I will have to protect myself by becoming deaf.

Don’t forget that I cannot explain myself as well as I would like.  That is why I am not always accurate.

Don’t put me off when I ask questions.  If you do, you will find that I stop asking and seek my information elsewhere.

Don’t be inconsistent.  That completely confuses me and makes me lose faith in you.

Don’t tell me my fears are silly.  They are terribly real and you can do much to reassure me if you try to understand.

Don’t ever suggest that you are perfect or infallible.  It gives me too great a shock when I discover that you are neither.

Don’t ever think that it is beneath your dignity to apologize to me.  An honest apology makes me feel surprisingly warm towards you.

Don’t forget I love experimenting.  I couldn’t get along without it, so please put up with it.

Don’t forget how quickly I am growing up.  It must be very difficult for you to keep pace with me, but please do try.

Don’t forget that I don’t thrive without lots of love and understanding, but I don’t need to tell you, do I?

Please keep yourself fit and healthy.  I need you.

Welcome Heidi!!

We are excited to have Heidi join us for a couple of months while she finishes up her schooling! She got an 'internship' (I think they call it something else- practicum, maybe?) here in town at the Prescott nursing home. We hope the time doesn't go too fast because we are enjoying our time. :-)

Rhya is in her GLORY to have such a willing and fun playmate! She and Heidi have played ring around the rosie (or 'ashes', as Rhya calls it) too many times to count, have read close to 50 books by now, have played in the sandbox, and played hide and seek (Rhya was having so much fun she held her potty too long. Pretty soon she was exclaiming 'POTTY! POTTY!' and running to the bathroom w' fully soaked undies!)

Speaking of Rhya (surprise, surprise), she is getting quite independent. She LOVES to sing, but lately, when I try to sing along, she says, "No Mommy sing. Rhya sing. Mommy watch". Then she continues to belt out variations of anything that comes to her head.

We've been visiting parks, going for walks, and eating picnics all week long...just the two of us plus the dogs. This is an AWESOME week to have 'off', waiting for Baby to arrive. I've gotten quite a bit done, and have LOVED spending these last precious moments with Rhya all by herself. :-)

What we've been up to

Congratulations to Elliot, Amanda, and Kylie on their new baby Jaxon. We got to go see him last Tues. Can't believe he's three weeks old already.
Our child will do anything for food: (mind you, it was brocolli!)
I took the dogs to Carpenter Nature Center last Sat. It was amazingly fun and the dogs had a blast!
39 weeks today!! We are in the waiting stage. It is fun to have time with only Rhya and no other kids this week. :-)
